Funeral celebrant • Central Lancashire & the North West

A funeral should sound like the person it is about.

Warm, personal ceremonies created with empathy, honesty and, where it feels right, humour. Written from scratch around the life, character and stories of the person being remembered.

The stories that matter are often the small details that make everyone say, “Yes, that was exactly them.”

Every person is different. Their stories, their family and their life are unique, and their funeral should be too.

My goal is to tell the story of someone in a way that reflects how they lived, rather than dwelling too heavily on the sadness or trauma of how they died. A funeral is naturally a sad occasion, but it is also an opportunity to remember a life, celebrate a person and share the stories that made them who they were.

Light-hearted stories, inside jokes, cheeky comments and even speaking directly to the person who has died can all have a place if it feels right for them and their family.

I spend a lot of time listening. The more families talk, the better the service usually becomes.

How I work

Calm, clear and personal from the first conversation.

You do not need to arrive with the right words or a finished plan. I guide the conversation, gather the details and turn what you share into a ceremony that feels recognisable and true.

1

Meet and listen

We meet wherever feels most comfortable. Family members who cannot attend can join by video call.

2

Understand the person

I ask about their life, character, quirks, relationships and the memories that still make people smile.

3

Write from scratch

The whole service is shaped around the person. Names, dates and important details can be checked before the day.

4

Work with the funeral director

I keep communication clear and make sure the structure, timing, music and contributions fit together properly.

5

Prepare the family

Everyone knows what will happen, who is speaking and where they need to be. Questions are dealt with beforehand.

6

Deliver the ceremony

I bring the words and stories together with warmth, confidence and the right tone for the person and the room.

Services

More than a standard funeral script.

Every ceremony is built around the family’s wishes and the personality of the person being remembered.

Funeral ceremonies

Complete, personal services at crematoria, chapels and other venues.

Celebrations of life

Flexible ceremonies focused on memories, stories, music and personality.

Memorial services

A ceremony held separately from the funeral, with time and space to remember properly.

Graveside services

Simple, meaningful ceremonies for burial or interment.

Eulogy writing and support

Help finding the structure and words, whether I deliver them or a family member does.

Ashes-scattering ceremonies

A personal way to gather, speak and mark the final part of someone’s journey.

About Allan

Experienced enough to lead. Human enough to listen.

I have had the privilege of delivering more than 250 funeral services, and every one has been different from the last.

The service is there for the living: to help people remember, stir their own memories, laugh, cry, reflect and leave having celebrated a life rather than simply marked a death.

My role is to take the stories a family shares and weave them into something personal, honest and heartfelt. The best result is a ceremony that could not have been written for anybody else.
